Marvin "Krondon" Jones III
Los Angeles, California, United States
Known to his many hip hop fans simply as Krondon, Marvin Jones was originally born in South Central Los Angeles. Born with the disorder albinism, Jones had very little pigment in his skin and hair. This was a source of difficulty during his youth, when he was made fun of by his classmates for his different appearance, but it proved to be an unexpected blessing as he neared his teens. While so many young African American men in Jones' neighborhood turned to crime in order to cope with endemic poverty, Jones' distinctive appearance made this impossible for him, forcing the young man to focus all the more intently on his love of rap. He began recording in 1997 under the moniker Krondon, and soon found himself collaborating with a group of friends on several tracks. Those friends eventually became the rap group Strong Arm Steady, who released their breakthrough album In Search of Stoney Jackson through the label Stones Throw in 2010. Meanwhile, Jones found the opportunity to appear in an episode of the legal drama "Harry's Law" (NBC, 2011-12) in 2011. The experience proved positive, and he landed a far more substantial role in 2018 when he was cast as Tobias Whale on the superhero series "Black Lightning" (The CW, 2018-).
